Zurich: Hotel Widder
Lovely Sunday lunch in their garden (Mother's day, but, eh) with surprisingly unstodgy food (lemon risotto with grilled octopus), great ingredients, excellent open wine policy, and a bottle of Swiss white Merlot. Friendly maitre d' presented us with a heart-shaped chocolate crepe on the house before we had to leave for the airport.
Zurich: Blockhus
Amazing how much one great person can do for the feeling of a restaurant. It's a neighborhood-y spot that serves great tartare, accompanied by some nice wine and fries, in our case, sitting at the bar because it was Saturday night and all the tables were taken. Nice food, great friendly service, and a shot of whiskey to help the tartare settle.
